Strean is a congregation of Gods People which is:
Serving the Lord
Our vision is of an every-member ministry and is not just a one-person or even team ministry. Every member of the congregation is being encouraged to find their gifts and to use and develop them in the service of Christ and his Church. This will add to the many people who give faithful service in all areas of Church life from worship to leading organisations, caring for others and in committee and practical work.
Teaching the Word
Teaching is central both in worship and in all of Church life. We aim to teach the Gospel and all of God’s word and apply it to the reality of life for people today. This includes not just public teaching with pulpit ministry, mid-weeks and small groups but private teaching as God’s word is brought into homes. It is for everyone and is an important aspect of our organisations for children and young people.
We are seeking to expand our current work in local outreach. We can make a difference by grasping the new opportunities that our project brings to build relationships with new people, build bridges within our community and share the Good News. We seek to play our part in the fulfilling of Christ’s commission to make disciples of all nations and believe that Christ’s mission is both local and global.
We seek as a Church family to learn to love one another and find expression for that. Our small groups will play a significant part and learning together as combined with getting to know and care for each other. Our members are the Church and pastoral care is a high priority for us.
We seek to find a blend of traditional and contemporary worship which is most of all about enabling us to meet with God in a real way and recognises both our history and the changes and growth in our congregation in recent years.
We believe that children and young people are an integral part of the Church of today and not just the Church of tomorrow. Our desire is that as they grow up in our fellowship they will come to respond to the love of Christ. We hope they will then go on to mature in their faith and be equipped to serve God in the Church and in the world with all the pressures it brings.
